Recently installed TPS slotted/dimpled rotors on all 4 corners with Hawk HPS pads. Now whenever I'm driving I hear a "clicking" noise similar to when you were a kid and put a playing card against the spokes of the wheel. Click to Play!

In either case, drilled and/or slotted brake rotors can’t be turned (resurfaced). So when they warp, or as soon as you put on a new set of pads, you will have to replace the rotors. (Most people resurface the rotors at each replacement of the pads.) At least with OEM-type rotors you can resurface them once or twice before having to replace them. Click to Play!

Here's an update: I removed the ATE slotted rotors from the rear, inspected everything and nothing was out of place. I installed a set of new OEM rotors with the same Hawk pads that I had installed with the ATE rotors and the noise is gone. Seems pretty straight forward - at least on my car slotted rotors on the rear added unwanted noise.
So I installed my new Cquence dimpled/slotted rotors this past weekend on the fronts and rears. They look and perform great! However, while I'm driving or braking, I hear a consistent clicking noise coming from the rotors.
If done properly, and with care, slotted and drilled rotors can be machined. Not all warped, worn or damaged rotors can be brought back from the dead, but more often than not, a proper machining job can breathe new life to your rotors and should be considered a viable alternative to replacement rotors in some cases.

The image below was sent to us by a customer who had purchased EBC Brake pads and BELIEVED he was also buying genuine EBC Brake rotors. Unfortunately these are a fake and a very dangerous fake. These rotors are THROUGH DRILLED or CROSS DRILLED which EBC DOES NOT MANUFACTURE and strongly recommends against for numerous reasons.

They look cool and they work just fine, but I probably will replace them with conventional rotors when they wear out.

This is a bizarre issue that is ONLY happening with 05+ Mustangs which we cannot figure out why. So at this time we will stop selling dimpled rotors for the 05+ Mustangs and only sell cross drilled/ slotted or slotted only because of the noise issues. We've sold over a 1000 set of rotors and many of those were dimpled.

This is driving me crazy.
I installed them, cleaned the everything properly and they look great and perform great.
Only problem I have it that when braking between between 50-20mph I heard a noticeable clicking type of noise and it get decently quiet between 20-0mph but I can still hear it.
I checked everything, made sure that everything was greased properly.
I did bed the pads in by PowerStop instructions.
Anyone experienced similar issue?
This is the clicking noise that I was hearing for the past 5 days but way louder.
I unbolted the whole caliper assembly loaded with the Power Stop Z23 pads as a whole, swapped the rotors back with the factory ones, reassembled the calipers.
Took a test drive and the car drives soooooo quiet.
The biggest BS is that the guys at Alien Brakes won't cover the return shipping because he is blaming the pads or calipers which I know that it is not the problem.
Total BS A quick Google search seems to confirm that slotted rotors can produce a clicking sound as the pad brushes over the slots.
So now you're running aftermarket pads with stock rotors?

I think there's an opportunity for Hyundai to do more of what Nismo and TRD does in offering factory authorized mods where you can get mods like this from the factory that you know will work, avoiding being the guinea pig.

opinion, dimm slots 2 and 4 have Power Stop CDS rotors and Power Stop Pads.

Before I took my factory pads I took a drilled and slotted rotors clicking noise and made sure that I put the pins and new hardware back that slots and games free way.
I tripled checked everything and then once I removed the front rotors and put the factory fronts back the noise went away in the fronts.
Now I can hear the same noise in the back but it is a lot less noticeable.

I had to replace front brakes recently.
Decided to upgrade stock components without going drilled and slotted rotors clicking noise the "Brembo swap".
Brembo would have given a little more swept area, but didn't seem worth the trouble.
Used POWERSTOP Z23 Evolution pads and rotors.
Rotors are slotted and cross drilled.
Install was straight forward and gave no problems.
Did have some knock from the pads after.
Tried a five times slot machine of things to correct, but just ended up putting the factory hold-down springs back on.
Knock was being caused by the pads moving in the caliper when first applying brakes.
Probably should put a new hardware kit on to reduce the clearance, pads move around more than I would like.
Still have brake squeak when I use them first thing in the morning, but goes away after first stop.
Intitial bite might be a little less than orig pads, but as pedal pressure increases, friction does too.
Definitely stops better than factory.
Got them from RockAuto, reasonable price.
Will probably get matching set for rear when they need it.
Do recommend them if you don't go Brembo.

If you are feeling vibration in the car when you apply the brakes, particularly in the steering wheel, you probably have at least one warped rotor.
Go to PowerStop web site or contact them to get specs on rotors and whether they can be machined to true turned.
